A Glitch in the Gaze confronts the objectification of Black women through surrealist collage, exploring desire, identity, and the commodification of the body.

This series, A Glitch in the Gaze, delves into the complex interplay of objectification, consumerism, and Black identity through a surrealist lens. Utilizing digital, mixed media, and real-life collage, I construct visually arresting narratives that challenge the commodification of Black bodies. By juxtaposing familiar objects with distorted or fragmented figures, I aim to disrupt conventional modes of perception and expose the underlying power dynamics that shape our understanding of desire and representation. This work is a critical exploration of the ways in which Black women are often reduced to consumable objects within contemporary culture.
