Biography

Jabouloni Thompson (b.1980, Vineland New Jersey) lives and works in New York. He is a multidisciplinary artist working across digital collage, painting, and generative image-making, his practice interrogates the construction of Black identity within historical and contemporary systems of power.

Thompson draws from a wide range of visual sources, including classical European painting, biblical imagery, and mass media, layering them with digitally rendered and AI-generated elements to create complex, hybrid compositions. His work challenges the historical absence and marginalization of Black figures in canonical art by re-situating them within positions of divinity, heroism, and authority.

A graduate of Rutgers University with a BFA in Art, Thompson’s work reflects an ongoing investigation into race, representation, and the politics of image-making. His long-term practice aims to bridge traditional and emerging technologies while contributing to broader conversations around visual culture, identity, and power.
